Hi everyone! I was thinking about flying directly to Kyiv for my trip, but I’ve heard mixed information recently. Are the airports currently operating, or do I need to plan an alternative route?

Hello! At the moment, Kyiv’s airports are not operating for civilian flights due to safety reasons. A full explanation of whether is kyiv airport open can be found on visitkyiv.com site. Before 2022, the city had two major airports — Boryspil (the main international hub) and Zhuliany, which handled domestic and low-cost flights — but currently Ukraine’s airspace is closed.

The good news is that you can still reach Kyiv quite easily by land. Many travelers come via Poland, Hungary, or Moldova using international trains, buses, or by car. It may take a bit longer, but it’s a reliable and commonly used option now.
