Has anyone tried using a VPS with cPanel specifically for database management? I’m looking for a way to handle users and backups through a UI rather than the command line—is it worth the overhead?

Yeah, it can be a really convenient setup. Using a VPS for databases with cPanel makes everything much easier if you don’t want to deal with command line all the time. You get a clean interface for managing databases, users, and backups, while still having dedicated resources for better performance. It’s a good balance between control and simplicity, especially for growing projects.

That’s reassuring. I was mostly worried about the license cost and server bloat. If the UI handles automated backups reliably without killing performance, it sounds like exactly what I need for my current workflow.

The overhead is there, but modern VPS specs handle cPanel easily. For backups, JetBackup is a great addon to look into. It gives you that peace of mind without needing to write custom cron jobs or scripts manually. Good luck!
